Maria Bouhabib
May 2017
We'd love to introduce you to Maria Bouhabib, an active member of our CGC community. Maria is a Respiratory Therapist at the QEII in Halifax and when she is at the CGC, you can find her in the Fitness Centre working with weights.
"I really enjoy the friendliness of the staff and the other members at the CGC. Even though we're all putting in a lot of hard work at the gym, we still find time to stop for a quick chat. It's probably one of my favourite things about the CGC."
"I was born in Lebanon and moved to Halifax in 2006. I still go home every summer to visit with my friends and family!"
- What motivates you to maintain an active lifestyle?
"In January of last year, I suffered a pretty serious concussion which required me to take some time off. When I was finally better, I started going to the CGC to get back in shape. Working out has been a way for me to physically and emotionally heal from the injury."
- What's your favourite workout routine?
"I'd have to say that chest and shoulder day is my favourite workout."
- What is your current workout goal or accomplishment since starting at the CGC?
"When I first started working out, my goal was to get back in shape and lose weight. Now that I have reached my target weight, I have moved away from looking at the scale. My new goal is to ultimately be comfortable with the way I look. I have a new perspective on fitness and what it means!"
Thank you Maria for sharing your dedication with us!
